Hey guys!
We slept in this morning, and spent the afternoon shopping in the Soho district of London. Max took his weekly dose of methotrexate this morning, one of the staple drugs in the maintenance phase of treatment. Although the chemo pills caused some minor pain in his feet, Max was a real trooper and fought through it with some Jr. Tylenol. Jeff threw Max over his shoulder a few times along the way too. J
We ate lunch at an artsy little café called the Carnaby Burger Company – there were old black & white photographs of musicians like Sting, Steven Tyler, John Lennon and Slash. The food defintely hit the spot – cheeseburgers, swiss cheese fries and a mint chocolate chip milkshake. Most of the stores in Soho are designer labels, but we had a very special stop to make for Max – Hamley’s toy store. The store has seven floors (including the ground floor and the basement) full of toys, electronics, stuffed animals and collectables. Max picked out a magic trick set, Harry Potter figurines and a couple of small knights in armor. Max also had fun posing with some of the characters made entirely out of Lego blocks – including Indiana Jones, R2D2 from Star Wars (see attached picture) and Hagrid from Harry Potter.
Farther down Regent Street, there are dozens of theatres, restaurants and souvenir shops – we found some fun t-shirts and trinkets to take home. The three of us shared pizza and pasta at a restaurant called Italian Grafitti for dinner. It was recommended in the “London for Kids” travel guide. We split a slice of caramel banana cheesecake for dessert. The food here is improving, you just have to know where to eat!
We are taking the train to Robertsbridge in the morning to see Bodiam Castle – Max is excited to see the moat and drawbridge.
Love,
The Mosi (Brandi, Jeff and Max)
